Module 5: Key Coaching Concepts, Part 1
People who turn to coaches for support and guidance want to change, but they may be at different stages of readiness. Each stage requires a unique and tailored approach. As a coach, you need to be able to identify your clients' stages and adapt your coaching methods accordingly. In this module, you will learn how to do just that. Then, you will be introduced to Self-Determination Theory and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. You will learn strategies for applying these psychological principles to coach clients about the importance of healthy eating habits and regular exercise.
Throughout this module, you will explore coaching principles and practices rooted in theories of behavior change, with a focus on meeting clients where they are and considering their unique journeys. You will also examine how the terminology you use can impact attitudes toward exercise and nutrition and consider the importance of adapting your language to meet your clients’ needs.
